Eligibility:

In general, admission requirements to the program entail possession of a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, with quantitative training in the field of economics or business administration. Graduates with quantitative foundation (statistics, mathematics, engineering, etc) will also be considered.
-Access is also open, under the same requirements, to students in possession of a degree obtained under foreign educational systems, after verification by the university, that the degree accredits a level of education in the issuing country equivalent to that of the official Spanish bachelor’s degree, and gives access to master studies.
-Candidates must certify a minimum score in any of the following tests that are standard parameters for most of the prestigious international universities: TOEFL: 550 (Paper Based Test), TOEFL: 210 (Computer Based Test), TOEFL: 80 (Internet Based Test), IELTS: 6.0. Presentation of CPE (Certificate of Proficiency English) or CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) will also be accepted as a proof of English proficiency. In rare cases, a test conducted by the Language Laboratory of the Universidad Carlos III itself can be taken into account.

Scholarship Description: The Business Department at Charles III University of Madrid is requesting applications for its Master in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods. The objective of the scholarships is to prepare highly qualified and motivated students to carry out original research in the fields of finance and management with a thorough preparation in empirical methods and statistics.

Duration of award(s): Scholarship is offered for 2 years. Scholarships, if renewed, may cover an additional period of up to three years at most.

What does it cover? Selected candidates receive a yearly scholarship of approximately 14,000 euros (before taxes) for two years. This scholarship is renewable for students that are accepted into the PhD program. Renewals will be made individually and conditional on the student’s academic and research performance. Scholarships, if renewed, may cover an additional period of up to three years at most. Scholarship recipients are required to act as Teaching Assistants in those subjects and degrees in which the Department is involved.

Doctoral Scholarships for Students of Developing Countries 2013

Ghent University offers Doctoral scholarships  for candidates from developing countries in Belgium. The students of developing countries can apply for this scholarship. These scholarships are offered in the field of Arts and Philosophy, Law, Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, Economics and Business Administration, Veterinary Medicine, Psychology and Educational Sciences, Bioscience Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Political and Social Sciences. The candidate is offered a scholarship for 24 months which must be divided into several periods within a span of 4 years.

Eligibility: -Candidates need to come from and have the nationality of a developing country
-There must be a guarantee that the candidate will be able to work on the PhD project at the partner university. This implies that there must be a local PhD supervisor at the partner university or research center.
-Written statement is requested from that supervisor or the university authorities stating that the candidate is either a student or a staff member of this university and will be sufficiently exempted from teaching or other assignments as to be able to fully concentrate on the PhD research.
-This statement should also mention that the candidate receives/received a local scholarship or salary when working on the PhD in the home institute.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of developing countries can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: With support from its “Special Research Fund” (BOF), Ghent University wishes to support university research groups or research centres in developing countries in their aim to grow into excellent research centres by upgrading local academic personnel. Therefore Ghent University grants PhD scholarships to promising PhD students from developing countries who wish to carry out half of their PhD research at Ghent University and half in a university in a developing country. No restrictions are imposed on the field of research; nevertheless preference will be given to topics that are relevant for development. Relevance for development measures the degree in which the action of development corresponds with the expectations of the beneficiaries, the needs of the country, global priorities and the policies of partners and donors. The Ghent University promoter also receives a bench fee of €15.440 to cover (part of) the operational costs, as well as the travelling costs of the student and both the Ghent University and the local promoter.

Duration of award(s): The candidate obtains a scholarship for 24 months which must be divided into several periods within a span of 4 years. In principle the scholarship holder starts the PhD scholarship research at Ghent University during a period of 3 to 9 months and ends the scholarship with a stay of at least 3 months at Ghent University to complete and defend the doctoral thesis.

What does it cover? The value of the scholarship at Ghent University depends on, a.o., the researcher’s family situation and is approximately €1.750.

Other Benefits:  The candidate receives a “sandwich” type scholarship for a total of 24 months. Within a span of 48 months, the candidate needs to work on the PhD project both at Ghent University and the partner university. The scholarship  holder will receive a monthly income  only for the periods he/she works at Ghent University. The rest of the PhD research is done in the partner university for which no funding is provided through this scholarship. The partner university has to provide a salary or local scholarship for the period the candidate works there.
