Eligibility: Plant Fellows is open to all fields of research in plant sciences and to applicants of any nationality fulfilling the following eligibility criteria:
-Only experienced researcher can benefit from the PLANT FELLOWS programme. Thus the fellow must, at the time of recruitment be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. Both options need to be verified by certificates, which will be reviewed by the PLANT FELLOWS selection committee.
-At the date for application submission, the applicant must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (e.g. work, studies) in the country of the host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the application submission.
-The transnational mobility shall come under one of the following 3 fellowship schemes, any of which may be intersectorial, between academia and industry or vice versa; but this is a decision driven by the applicant and is not a specific requirement. Applicants of any nationality must comply with either of the following mobility rules:
1- Incoming mobility to  residents of EU Member States, Associate Countries or Third Countries who want  to benefit  from  the broad and excellent  training and  research capacities of the diverse research groups at the ZurichGBasel Plant Science Center.
2- Outgoing mobility to residents of EU Member States or Associated Countries. This mobility  has  to  be  carried  out  by  moving  to  a  host  organisation  in  another  EU Member State, Associate Country or Third Country. Outgoing mobility for a stay in a Third  Country  should  be  coupled  to  a  return  phase  to  a  EU  Member  State  or Associated Country. The return phase should be appropriate in value and duration (not over weighted compared to the outgoing phase).  The return phase can be carried out in another EU Member State or Associated Country than the country of residence before the outgoing phase.
3- Re integration of EU Member State or Associated Country residents having carried out research in a Third Country for at least the last 3 years and who wish to take up a research position in a host organisation located within the EU Member States or Associated Countries.

Scholarship Description: Plant Fellows is an International Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme in the field of plant sciences co  plant sciencefunded by Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) Marie Curie Actions – People and Regional, National and International Programmes. PLANT FELLOWS is centrally managed at the Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center. The Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center is a competence center of three Swiss universities, the University of Zurich, the University of Basel and the ETH Zurich. PLANT FELLOWS is open to applicants from all over the world. 13 European and 7 international universities and research institutes and 3 industry partners have been predefined as host organisations on the basis of their excellence in higher education and plant research.

Number of award(s): PLANT FELLOWS offers approx. 69 new post doc fellowships spread between three different schemes (incoming, outgoing and reintegration) and a structured training programme, including workshops, dedicated training in complementary skills and industrial placements.

Duration of award(s): Awarded fellowship duration is between 12 months (minimum) and 24 months according to the proposed research project.

What does it cover?  Along with the living allowance, a mobility and travel allowance as well as a research cost contribution will be paid. The PLANT FELLOWS contribution is fixed at 40% of the fellowship costs for eligible researchers. The remaining 60% own contribution has to be provided by the principal investigator.

Notification: Evaluation  results are  estimated to be available within 3 months after the relevant deadline for submission.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is online. An application for a PLANT FELLOWS post doc fellowship is prepared by the applicant in liaison with the chosen host organisation, which is represented by the principal investigator. The principal investigator is a professor or a group leader from one of the predefined host organisations. Thus don’t forget to contact the designated host organisation and the principal investigator prior the application preparation for additional instructions and support. The application has to be made jointly by the applicant and the principal investigator from the chosen host organisation and shall be written in English. It includes:

2013 BIGSSS 15 PhD Fellowships in Germany

Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) offers PhD fellowships program. 15 stipends are offered to pursue PhD prgramme in one of BIGSSS’ three thematic fields: global governance and regional integration, welfare state, inequality and Quality of Life and in the field Changing Lives in Changing Socio-Cultural Contexts. PhD stipends of 1300 Euros/month for 36 months, contingent on successful completion of each year.

Scholarship Description: The programme runs from June 24 to August 16, 2013, and is open to undergraduate students of any Spanish National Cancer Research Centrenationality who are in their final two years of studies in the Life Sciences or related subjects (e.g. Biology, Bio medicine, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Bioinformatics). Travel expenses and meals will be covered by the CNIO for summer training programme students during their stay at the center.

Number of awards offered: Up to 7 summer training positions will be awarded during 2013 to undergraduate university students in their final two years of bio medicine-related studies in any country.

Duration of award(s): The training programme will run from June 24 to August 16(8 weeks) and will consist of 312 working hours–the actual timetable will be mutually agreed on by the students and the programme director. The intensive nature of the programme requires a full-time commitment (40 hours per week) from the participant. Students are required to participate in all scheduled activities.

Selection Criteria: Positions will be awarded on a competitive basis taking into consideration the student’s academic records and motivation letter. In case of equal merits, students in their final year of studies will be given preference.

Notification: Selected applicants will be notified at least one month prior the beginning of the stay.

2013-2014 Taiwan Scholarship for Indian Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students in Taiwan

Ministry of Education TaiwanThe Ministry of Education (MOE) is offering scholarship for Indian students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate study in Taiwan. For 2013/2014 academic years, it offers total five scholarships covering tuition fees up to four years for undergraduate programs, two years for master programs and up to four years for doctorate programs. The MOE also offer a stipend of NTD 15,000 (undergraduate) and stipend of NTD 20,000 (postgraduate). Applicants can apply till March 31, 2013.

Eligibility:
(i) Applicants must be an Indian national with a high-school diploma or post-secondary degree(s), with an excellent academic record, and be of good moral character.
(ii) Applicants are ineligible if they meet the following criteria:
1. Are R.O.C. nationals or overseas Chinese students
2. Are already registered or have obtained student status at any university/college in Taiwan. Graduating students pursuing further studies are exempt from this rule.
3. Have already studied in Taiwan for the same level of degree as the one in which they currently intend to enroll.
4. Are exchange or dual/joint degree students admitted in accordance with academic cooperation agreements between local universities/colleges and international universities/colleges.
5. Have been a recipient of the Taiwan Scholarship for over a total of five years.
6. Have had, in the past, their Taiwan Scholarship or Huayu Enrichment Scholarship from the MOE revoked.
7. Are recipients of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan government or education institutions in Taiwan. This excludes subsidies offered by universities/colleges to cover tuition and other fees exceeding the scholarship limit.
(iii) Applicants should apply directly for admission within the deadlines specified by each university/college listed in the “Association of Taiwan Scholarship Program Schools”. Applications for admission outside of the universities/colleges participating in the Taiwan Scholarship Program are automatically disqualified and will not be returned.

Scholarship Description: Ministry of Education TaiwanIn an effort to encourage outstanding India students to undertake degree studies in Taiwan so as to familiarize themselves with the academic environment in Taiwan and promote communication, understanding and friendship between Taiwan and India, the Ministry of Education (MOE) establishes the Taiwan scholarship program.

Number of award(s): Total number of scholarship is five (5) for 2013-2014 academic years.

Duration of award(s):
-The maximum period of each scholarship is four years for undergraduate programs, two years for master programs, and four years for doctorate programs. The maximum length of the total awards for each recipient undertaking a combination of studies is five years.
-Annual award periods begin on September 1st and continue until August 31st of the following year. Recipients must arrive in Taiwan and enroll at their admitting universities/colleges withinprescribed period unless delays have been approved by the relevant institutions and the MOE. If recipients fail to arrive in Taiwan for registration during this period, their award will be revoked with no deferrals.
-Subsistence allowances begin from the month of the recipients’ registration at the universities/colleges and end when the award period expires or upon the recipients’ graduation, withdrawal, suspension, expulsion, or revocation of the scholarship.

What does it cover?
-Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fee. Upon validation of tuition and above fees, the MOE awards each recipient per semester up to NTD40,000. (Approximate US$1,400.00). If the total amount of these fees should exceed NTD40,000, the remainder of all costs shall be covered by either the recipient, or the recipient’s college, whereas over NTD40,000 are the sole responsibility of the recipient. Tuition and academic fees do not include any of the following: administration fees, thesis advising fees, insurance premiums, accommodation, Internet access, all of which are payable by the recipients.
-Subsistence allowance: The MOE offers each recipient undertaking undergraduate studies a monthly stipend of NTD15,000.(Approximate US$520.00); it offers each recipient undertaking postgraduate studies a monthly stipend of NTD20,000. (Approximate US$700.00).

Notification: Candidates and alternate candidates and their awarding universities/colleges are to be notified by May 31, 2013.

If issued by international educational institutions, these documents must be authenticated by an overseas Representative Office or be sealed and delivered by the awarding institutions. Documents in a language other than Chinese or English must be translated into Chinese or English and the translated documents must be authenticated.
(iv) A copy of admission application materials to universities/colleges in Taiwan (e.g., copies of application fee remittance, application form, receipt of application from universities/colleges, e-mails,).
(v) A copy of a language proficiency certificate:
1. A copy of results or certificate for the “Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language” (TOCFL) Level3 or above.
2. For applications to all-English programs, a copy of TOEFL test scores or other recognized English language proficiency exams or degrees awarded in English must be submitted.
(vi) Two letters of reference signed and sealed in envelopes (i.e. from the principals, professors, or supervisors). Photo copies and email submissions of letters of recommendation will not be considered.
(vii) Additional documents as specified by the individual representative offices.
